Is a diet work-up the right next step?
Veterinarian first
A veterinary nutritionist can help in finding the right diet for healthy and diseased animals. In case your pet shows any signs that may indicate disease, we do have to rely on your veterinarian's findings to decided on the best nutrient profile. We think along but cannot diagnose. So in case you are worried about a condition, the advice is to see your veterinarian first.
When does it make sense?
When you are feeding the recommended amount of a complete commercial food, all essentials should be covered. This, however, does not immediately equal optimal balance! It is therefore always a good move to have your pet's nutrient intake assessed, but it is especially useful when mixes are prepared or when a diagnosis is made.
How a consultation works
1. Pick & prepare
The different consult types have different goals and prerequisites for your booking. You can find more information below on this page
2. Book & chat
After gathering the necessary information, you can pick a slot for our video meeting. Anything not covered during the booking can still be discussed here.
3. Advice & follow-up
You get a document with advice and a brief explanation for it. You keep us up to date so that we can (or suggest to) adapt the diet early should it seem necessary.

Below you'll see a key of everything that will be asked during your booking. The exception is the quick info service for which you don't need to prepare anything!
More accurate information speeds up case handling and fewer follow-ups. In other words, a more thorough work-up reduces your total expenses! When vague indications are given, estimates will be used, which may be completely inappropriate for your animal. Power through the inconvenience now, and save later!
For diet optimisation, a rate of 160 CHF/h is charged as the effort for a case can differ markedly. Think of multiple recipes (e.g. during sport season), multiple diseases etc. During our call, an estimate will, however be given for you to consent to or decline. In case of the latter, on a diet check will be charged. Optimisation, however never exceeds 490 CHF.
For the quick info, the diet check and the follow-up, prices are fixed.
Do consider, the more accurate your info, the fewer follow-ups you would have!
Follow-ups are meant for quick adaptations or questions. For example, everything is fine, but your pet is slowly gaining weight.
Should you wish for another diet when on holiday, or should a new recipe be needed due to health reasons, this becomes an optimisation. Your confirmation to go ahead is, however, asked before optimisation is started.
Healthy animals can definitely get advice without having to go to a vet first. This does mean, that you confirm there is no suspicion of a condition. Although details on the clinical work-up are only mandatory in diseased animals, it is encouraged to provide the clinical record from your pet, to ensure your recommendation can be optimally individualised.
With some professionals, there are cooperation contracts to make referral and billing more efficient. The referring professional will receive the invoice instead of you.
It also means that we work together to improve their own direct advice!
In short - NO - absolutely not! On the contrary, your feedback over time is highly appreciated as it enables to improve future advices. Just mail them with the subject "Update" and your client number.
Every follow-ups is billed and you are informed beforehand if they would be considered an optimisation.
